    Best ssd for the money

I am wondering what the best ssd for under £100 is for my first build. At the moment I think I'm going to get a Samsung 850 evo 250gb.

    Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Would probably be best posting this in the hardware section so it gets more visibility.

Some people may not read this as its not in the general discussion area's of the forum

It depends on what you're going to use it for.

Many uses such as web browsing and gaming don't get any benefit from faster SSDs so you're best off just going for the cheapest and deciding between them based on manufacturer support.

Based on my experience with some older samaung SSDs the 850evo should be a reasonable drive.

I do however think that paying £100 for a 250GB drive is a little steep, though there isnt a lot that can be done as there seems to be a bit of a flash supply and demand mismatch at the moment

    (last year i picked up a 750GB MX300 for £107)

    EDIT:

If your motherboard has an M.2 Slot then this looks pretty good:
A Samsung OEM SM961 rebranded for CCL
Scan previously had a similar (but scan branded) SSD which was just a Samsung OEM product with a new sticker. It seems like the cost of getting a NVMe drive is getting closer to that of a SATA drive so it might be worth going that route.

    Edit edit:
CCL state that the brand may vary on their 'CCL choce SSDs' so I guess you're not guaranteed to get a SM961, but I'd guess if you emailed/phoned them they could tell you what you'be be getting

You could try and read this comparison of SSDs.
