    Which workstation Laptop?

Im starting to do more freelance work and I'm in need of a serious workstation that I can cart around with me. I'm an interactive designer so application wise I mostly use flash (with papervision 3d engine), After effects and 3d packages (3ds, blender, etc).
My budget is pretty flexible but I want to keep it under 2500.
I'm looking at the lenovo think pad w700 and the dell precision M6500 (specs below). Currently I'm leaning towards the lenovo mainly because of the excellent screen and built in wacom, but the dell has better support and warranty which is pretty important and more memory. Id like some opinions though, so which would you go for and why?

    Lenovo (£2400):
    Intel Core 2 Quad Core Processor Q9000 (2.00GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)
    17" WUXGA 400NIT TFT
NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M 128-core CUDA parallel computing processor 1GB (dedicated)
    4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
Ultranav + Fingerprint Reader + Pantone Color Sensor + WACOM Digitizer
Dual 160GB, 7200rpm RAID 0 Enabled Hard Disk Drives

    Dell (£2300):
    Intel™ Core i7-820QM(1.73GHz. 8MB.Quad Core)
17in Widescreen WUXGA (1920x1200) Silver with RGB Led LCD Panel
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel (4x2GB)
1GB GDDR5 for ATI FirePro M7740 (with 1GB dedicated memory)
2x 320GB Serial ATA (7200RPM) (Free fall sensor) in raid 0

OS is windows 7 pro 64 for both

    Thanks!

if you can hang fire a bit i think the w700 is due for a refresh early next year and that should bring it inline with the dell

if your going to be lugging it around a lot the lenovo will likley be sturdier and is a tiny bit lighter

if you need the power now go for the dell

wieght wise there is only about 280 grams between them

    Re: Which workstation Laptop?

Another thought - do you know if any of your regular software can be GPU accelerated? If so, that may affect your decision, given that those two laptops have different GPU vendors...
