Daisy chaining 120mm and 140mm fans

So am thinking of daisy chaining a 140mm and 120mm fan by splicing, using the RPM monitor of the 120mm (because the 140mm runs quieter anyway) and connecting the two to one of the channels of a fan controller.

    Any issues in doing this?

i would think they would run @ different speeds but not really a problem

Only thing to watch out for is the combined load of multiple fans overloading the fan controller/motherboard header.
Your fan controller should list a maximum amp load per channel, just don't go over that and you should be fine.

I've done this without a problem with two 120mm fans. Only issue is the second one in the chain (one not connected to motherboard) - you will not be able to monitor its speed using something like SpeedFan or other utility.

Re: Daisy chaining 120mm and 140mm fans

I've done that with 4x120mm fan and it worked fine, I think the fan socket is limited to something like 1A at least. 4 fans only draw 0.48A and even less when running at lower voltage. There shouldn't be a problem.

All 4 fans are the same so they should be running at the same speed.
