Do these UL numbers appear on the ones sold in the UK though?

Well my Coolermaster PSU has a UL number on the side of it, so I guess so. Although looking at an FSP and a Bestec PSU they don't, im guessing this is because they are OEMs.

Also it only needs a UL number to be sold in the US, sometimes psu's are made for a specific market (or the labels on the side can be) so it has no need of UL testing and cert.

Also a big issue is that many "brands" have gone to the next step and got there own UL number, so the UL goes back to the brand not the manufacture.
They (brands) can do this by having a 3rd company make new casings and they then just transplant the internals to the new casing.
By doing this the brand has taken part in the physical manufacturing of the product and so can be listed on the UL number.
In these cases the only way to know is to open it up
