What cheap mobo to use? Barton 2500 to 3200

I thought i had found the ideal cheap mobo to do an easy overclock to
3200 speeds but according to some bloke at the dabs site the board
doesnt allow vcore changes, is this true?

    SoA nforce 2 ATX A L M7NCD

    at dabs

    http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/comp...quicklinx=2Q7L

Anyway im still looking for a suitable board which is cheap.

So what is the cheapest board which allows vcore adjustments....
now im not looking for a fully featured board just one which can get a 2500 to 3200. im not going to push it above 200 MHz FSB.

To say many of us were buying NF7-S's for £120 back in the day i think you're getting yourself a bargain with the NF7's at the moment. Go and buy an Abit NF7 revision 2 if you want a cheap motherboard.

CPU City are doing NF7-S V2.0 for £54 ex which is a bargain for what you get.

    Other options
MSI K7N2 Delta-L about £40 ex. most places.
    Shuttle AN35NU £36 ex. at gemma.co.uk

Has anyone seen this make before ? Optronix ? It may be worth looking at, a customer review says they are a UK company

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=59684

Anyway, I recommend you give us an actual budget, and just have a look on ebuyer, match your price to a mobo and google for some reviews.
For overclocking I think most people's experiences are only really with the Nforce2 Deluxe versions, which probably arent want you are looking at, so reviews are you best bet.

EDIT: Found some info on that mobo, looks like quite a good price:

Well I was thinking under £45, this isnt for me its for a friend so he wants it
for as little as possible. Seeing as i will be using the old stuff out of his I dont
need sata and raid. If it was for me I would be spending more.

The biostar one i found was £38.50 inc vat which is alot cheaper then
the NF7-S. Ive been recommend to get a KT600 board but im not sure
which one to get. The ebuyer one seems ok but im sure there must be cheaper around. Like i said im not looking to get the most from the chip
    just an easy bargain overclock.

When going for a cheap board, don't try and get a ton of features from a dodgy make, always get the best Asus / MSI you can for the money. It means you will lose features, but the quality will be a lot better, and cause you less headaches.

Ive also been recommend the Asus A7V600-X (KT600) which is £49 inc vat at
dabs £46.39 inc vat at ebuyer.

it seems it will do the job well enough.

Cheapest KT600 board at ebuyer is Mfr part #: SL-KT600-C1L

Soltek SKT A KT600 AGPx8 Sound LAN USB 2.0 Retail Box at £39.90 inc vat
any vcore info on this anyone?

Can anyone tell me if KT400 boards can do 200MHz and keep the pci agp
freqs normal and allow changing of the vcore?

Foamy you have made me a happy man it seems to be the one I need
just a quick question it has to be the Asrock K7S8X-E REV 3.0 and not
just a Asrock K7S8X right? I have read that the K7S8X does overclock
but does it allow a barton 2500 to get to 200 MHz?

It looks like the Asrock K7S8X-E REV 3.0 is the one for me

    This is true.

I bought a Jetway once. Worst thing I ever did, though to be fair due to it's crapness I have abused it horribly, yet it still works.

if you want to get to 200 then you will need that one you could also check the asus a7n8x the i think ebuyer do as a return for about £50
