Looking for a new keyboard

Hey,

I'm currently using a MS Reclusa, but are thinking to upgrade.
Now I like added features, like the Volume/Play control I have with the Reclusa.

So I was looking at the Sidewinder X6.
Is it any good, or can you recommend something better?

Personally I think the Sidewinder X6 is pretty good for the price and looks really nice too.

For me the Saiteks don't look too nice and the Logitech G series and Razer keyboards are quite expensive but I do love their looks.

To be honest if you go with any any of these you probably won't have any problems so just take a look at what they look like and see how much you're willing to pay.

I bought a mouse for £100, so the keyboard can be/should be in the same range

Well then you can look at any of the offerings from Saitek, Logitech, Microsoft and Razer and just see what you prefer.

Those makes are guranteed to last a while and won't fail to please you.

Why on earth would you buy a keyboard based on how easy it is on the eye?

If you're not after a keyboard with a load of extra keys (don't worry, you get the usual media keys), then the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard is hard to look beyond for corded.

To me most keyboards feel the same and a keyboard is essentially a keyboard to me so added features don't really attact me (illumination does but USB slots, macro keys, LCD screens and the like don't). It's only the really cheap keyboards that I can't use (well I can but the keys are horrible) and they tend to only be "brand-less" ones.

So in the end, what I look at is aesthetics and pricing. I want to get an illuminated keyboard myself though but there's nothing wrong with my £10 Logitech one so I can't justify myself buying a new keyboard really.

The G11 not only has backlit keys but a rotary dial for the volume control which is fantastic. It also USB ports too which are useful as I can plug my G5 into one and it means I do not need to go for a wireless mouse too.

You've not used a decent keyboard if you think they all feel similar.

I prefer the feel of the DiNovo Media Desktop to the Illuminated one (which is still excellent), but they're not so readily available now, and I'm not paying for the DiNovo Edge!

Best keyboard I've used is the Microsoft Ergonomic 4000. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it's so much better than a 'standard' keyboard. Not as important if you don't type much, but still a class keyboard. Unfortunately it was just a bit too impracticable for my tiny desk. A close second goes to the keyboard on my XPS M1530. The DiNovo media desktop after that.

I always feel that when you spend the amount of time in front of a computer that most of us do, that the most important parts of the computer are those you interact with - primarily the mouse, keyboard and monitor. The bits inside the case come way, way down the line.

Well any keyboard above £50 just seems pointless to me when my CPU itself was £50.

You'd be amazed how much joy new peripherals can bring! I do tend to change quite regularly, as I'm never satisfied but when you use the PC as much as I do peripherals are almost more important than the internals imo.

Personally I like the Logitech Wave series, I can type fast, don't get any aches etc and its also perfectly fine for gaming. Around £30 for USB edition I beleive.

In my opinion, I say the G11 keyboard for the 50 quid price range. Good solid performance.

I've got a logitech dinovo edge. like the op, the looks of my periherals are key to me making a decision when buying stuff. the edge in that case is hard to overlook, it looks very slick on my desk and having researched alot keyboards before parting with over 100 quid was the only one for me.

it has dedicated media controls, volume control is touch sensitive. also it was a mouse track pad which is usful is like me you're sometime away from your desk or your wireless mouse runs out of battery.

only bad points i have with it are that the wrist rest is not comfy (but then if it was it wouldn't look as a nice) and its somewhat cold when you start using it with your room is cold.... the other thing is that it lights up orange (i prefer blue, since most of my stuff lights up blue lol)....

other than that i have no problems whatsoever, oh and the charging stand looks nice too lol
