There is the 790X based Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P which can run Crossfire at PCI-E 2.0 8X:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

The Asus M3A79-T Deluxe is a 790FX based motherboard which will run the cards at PCI-E 2.0 16x:

They are both on special offer until around midday on Monday so be quick if you want to get one!

Here is the CPU support list:

    http://asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=ufZUFHN96LlrLL9J

I suppose you could try getting the cheapest AM2 CPU you could get off Ebay like an AM2 Sempron for a few quid just in case you needed to update the BIOS.

The Gigabyte would be perfectly fine with an HD5770.

OTH,even the Gigabyte needs a later BIOS revision to support AM3 CPUs:
    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...3107#anchor_os

Perhaps it is worth asking Scan what BIOS revision the motherboards ship with and whether they will run OK with AM3 CPUs out of the box.
