I no longer get a kick especially if they're graphics drivers. They NEVER install properly if they're any different to the previous verison (ie omega's.)

This system is too loaded on the PCI bus (with a KT400) to be an overclocker, so as long as drivers are stable I'm happy.

you can keep your pc at super fast speeds..

Norton Systemworks is wicked for cleaning up crap, but there are free alternatives..

    RegSeeker (cleans registry)
MRUBlaster (cleans 'most recently used' lists)
HDCleaner (very good program, does the job of many small programs)
Spybot S&D and Ad-aware (removing crap like spyware)
TuneXP (optimising XP for fast boot, shutdown and general fastness )

using all these will keep your system on top notch performance..

    defrag often and you're sorted.

i have office 2003, xp pro, visio studio 2003.net (this installs a lot of 'unneeded' stuff, but performance isnt hit tbh)

my boottime is pretty darn fast, even with norton loading up on boot, disabling serial ports and parallel port speeded it up a fair ammount.

like, you're installing programs to stop the bad things that programs are doing.

Do it manually, only install what you need, get to know where all the temp folders are

    This should actually read:
Norton Systemworks is a wicked unclean piece of crap. Luckily there are free alternatives.
Sorry, but I've had too many bad experiences with Norton stuff.
