Overclocking Athlon II 240
i want to ask if its safe to use this cpu with 1.6 volts because i just about manage to reach 3.9ghz on 1.55v but im too scared to go any higher (incase i fry my cpu) and i really want to break the 4ghz barrier.
but so far iv been using it on 3.7ghz 24/7 on stock cooler@1.325v (i think stock voltage is 1.425v) seems rock solid so far but 3.9ghz seems less stable though

i wouldn't, if it takes that much voltage to get there then it isnt a happy chippy. i dont think this is going to do the 4 for you sorry :(
if its any consolation im still yet to get to a 100% stable 4ghz even though my 965 will do 3.8 on stock voltage... which is a bit

but thts nice 3.8ghz on stock!!!!is it stock cooler aswell?

I would look to get a better cooler - I assume you are using a stock cooler??
Re: Overclocking Athlon II 240
if it only gets up to 51 degrees then heat isn\'t the problem

This, seems youve just hit the wall of the chip, its still a good speed, your not going to notice any difference in the extra 200mhz in the real world anyway.

1.5v is the amd limit, 1.55 is my personal limit, my chip doesn't need the cooling power of a true, overkill for me.
