My parents are gonig to america in a few weels and are going to get me a camera. I have £200 to spend, i have 1 condition though, it CANT be sony is i dont want anything to do with them. Also would it be cheaper to get in the US or in the duty free at the airport?

Canon A70, or if you can spend a little more Fuji S5000 ... simple!

Yes it will be somewhat cheaper over there - if you can wait then it'd make sence You could probably pickup the S5000 for under £200 over there. Don't forget you'll need memory the A70 takes CF AFAIK but the S5000 takes xD which is quite expensive but it is a superior camera.

if you are getting the camera out there, consider getting extra memory cards before you leave - they tend to be extemely cheap online...
