Do a search as I'm sure there was a good summary or two VERY recently ... and focusing on the Abit NF7-S specificly too. If no good let me know as I must have posted it on AnAnd or TechRep forums. (I'll copy & paste for you).

Forget the hard bit, if you want to flash your bios use this!

    [Info page] http://www.abit-usa.com/downloads/bios/flashmenu.php
    [Direct Link] ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/download/fae/flashmenu120.exe

Its "one click and do all the thinking for me" option works wonders

Autin... Your post was extremely helpful but a little to hard for me.

Acid... Is that flasher the exact same thing if I was to do all those other things like unzip the files, put them into the disk, boot from disk and etc?

    Yes, identical!
It apparently resets the CMOS for you as well!

Some people recommend Reseting your bios to defaults (not overclocked) setting before doing this. But Ive never done this, never had any problem either

One thing I do is to manually reset the CMOS afterwards then restore all my bios settings, I just like to make 100% sure it gets reset

EDIT: oh god im starting to use as many smileys as Austin
    /me slaps self!

Its recommended, the software should do it thought
(after the flash all you bios settings will be reset to factory defaults)

To reset manually, move the big yellow jumper next to the batter to the other available position and back again WHEN THE PC IS POWERED DOWN!

Remember to go into bios and set things up how you had them again

    That would be the one....

Just wondering, if your not entirely sure what the BIOS is, why are you needing to flash it ?

EDIT: oh right, I recommended it

Ok I flashed it.... It was a success, but now every time I start the computer it ask me if I wana configure my RAID thingy? It also says press C3 or something or F4 I think... I dont know what that is so I let it be, it also says after a little while... Primary and Secondary channel not there or found or something. Is there any way I can turn this RAID thing off so it doesnt go into that screen again?

Oh and another question. What is SATA harddriving or whatever? I am wondering because I do not have the SATA thing going on and was trying to figure out if it increases performance a lot? Is there a percent ratio anyone can give me?

    Thanks.

    Don't worry, thats perfectly OK.
SATA is not that much faster at the moment, the main gain is just the stupidly small/thin cables for increased airflow

The spec of sata is supposed to be 150 compared with PATA's max of 133 but with your kit SATA will run at a max of 133 anyway.

Just ignore the thing on boot, you will be fine

RAID or Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks is combining 2 drives together to either have both saving the same data as for of a backup or..... turning them into one big double speed HDD

There is a performance gain with SATA but I'm unsure to the exact figures

You can disable that, by disabling s-ata in your bios. Then it wont search for drives on the s-ata channel.

    Open bios.
    Go into integrated peripherals.
    Disable s-ata.

    It really is that simple
