Re: is this a good offer?
If these are the laptops:
Original Broken
Replacement
then I don't see why you shouldn't take it. It's a 2.2ghz Celeron from a 1.6ghz and 1GB of memory up from 256MB, also 160GB HDD from 40GB HDD, seems like a good replacement to me.
You might wanna see what others say though.

Thanks Ulti! As you may have gathered i'm kinda lost here!
Re: is this a good offer?
yeh should be a nice upgrade to the broken one, im assuming your cover was just for a similar spec not what you originally paid for it?
Re: is this a good offer?
Thanks Nvening. its through house contents insurance as laptop was 5 years old! Its new for old but doesn't really clarify whether replacements will be equivelent to spec or to original price paid. To be honest i only use it for internet browsing, coursework and minor gaming so hopefully it will be fine for that.
Re: is this a good offer?
I don't know how old your Equium is, but it didn't get sparkling reviews. The Satellite Pro appears to have more RAM thatn the Equium, a faster processor, and it will have a later operating system (which may or may not be a good thing - but you have little choice).
So on the limited information you have given, and a VERY quick search round Google for some specs, I'd say it was a reasonable offer. You are getting a newer, better specced (on paper) laptop for your old damaged one.
