I am just mucking around with an E2160 I had lying around. It is one of the L2 stepping ones with a 1.3250 VID. I have managed to get it upto 3GHZ with CPU-Z reporting a voltage of 1.288 volts under IBT. What type of overclock should I be looking to get with an E2160 and what sort of voltages have people used?? I am using a P5K SE motherboard.
I'd be disappointed if i couldn't achieve a +50% overclock on pretty much any core2 tbh, given a half decent mobo. So yeah looking good so far, low voltage too give it some more and make that ickle cpu scream

The CPU passed 15 iterations of IBT and the maximum temperature of the CPU was not more than 56C.

BTW cat I'm interested to know what your actual rig is (as funny as your rig info is)
1.35v should be fine for a decent OC and 24/7 usage - unless your going after records.

My main computer is a Shuttle SD37P2 SFF barebones which has a 975X motherboard and a 400W PSU. I currently have a Q6600 at 2.92GHZ on stock volts,with 4GB of PC2-6400 Geil Black Dragon DDR2,a 320GB Samsung Spinpoint T and a 500GB F3 and an HD4830 with an Akasa Vortexx Neo.
My other desktop had an E4300 at 3.16GHZ(the E2160 has now replaced it for the time being),4GB of generic PC2-6400 DDR2,a 250GB Spinpoint P series disc,a P35 based Asus P5K-SE,an HX520W and an HD3870 with a VF900 on it all in an Antec NKS4000 case.
My computers are getting old but they still do the job. TBH,my second computer is too big and it would be nice to downsize it into a smaller case. Nice if someone had a SG01,SG02,SG03 or SG04 they could give me for free!!

My old E4300 would easily hit 3GHz with out any issue at all, it was good for a bit more but annoyingly the airflow in my case was pretty nasty and the stock intel cooler could have done with an upgrade.

I built the computers in late 2006 and 2007. The market has now changed and the Phenom II offers better value for money than most of the Core2 range.
I find it a bit daft that people feel the need to recommend or justify the brands that they have used in their own computers since everyone knows that the computing market changes so quickly even in a few months.

I had a play around with the voltages and I have got the E2160 upto 3.1GHZ. I set 1.4125 volts in the BIOS and CPU-Z reports 1.336 volts under IBT and 1.376 volts when the CPU is idling.
