First dual core Atom netbook review

Very interesting read - been waiting for a review for this to appear. Quite a tempting netbook, was thinking this was the one that would get me onto the bandwagon, but it's still not quite powerful enough.

So even with dual core and HT, the Atom330 cpu is such a bottleneck. Also, sticking in effectively the desktop version of Atom means that it has a similar power draw as CULV -yet with only half the processing power.

Might be worth hanging on for the inevitable pair up of CULV + ION. Just a matter of time for it happen for netbooks:

Well, I would use my for on the move photoediting. I take wedding photos, and it would be very useful to start editing in Lightroom2 and Photoshop that night, instead of waiting to get home to my desktop. Both of these apps would be hideously slow on the Atom.

Exactly, which is why the power draw from the Atom330 makes no sense when you could use a CULV and get more batterly life.

Anyway, been reading around the net to get an idea of what performance CULV + ion would give. Think it would be something similar to the Asus UL30VT (CULV with discrete NVIDIA GeForce G210M 512MB - effectively the same spec as ION). Size wise pretty compact, with 13.3" screen, but not quite netbook territory.

Can't find any reviews of it though, could only get one of it's slightly bigger brother the ASUS UL80Vt (14" screen and DVD drive). Review from again from Anand tech, they absolutely loved it:

Right, and photo editing is not a netbook role. So you'd be better off with a small laptop anyway.
