Spec me a set of speakers

I dont think i have space for 5.1, so a decent 2.1 set would suffice, i need one that sounds good, but wont break the bank under £40 preferable, closer to £20 would be nice, i have a xonar DX to go with it for decent sound. Only other thing to mention is that i am replacing a set of rather cheap logitech 2.1 OEM ones, which have lasted me for a while, but now the volume dial makes the right hand speaker cut out at certain volumes.

Do you use headphones a lot or something? I dont understand it if not that people spend more on a sound card than on the speakers them selves. You'd be much better off having onboard sound and spending all the money on speakers (obviously up to a certain point), unless of course the sound card has gaming features or something. I just never got why you'd have a good soundcard with poor speakers.

Sorry to be negative and I'm sure someone will find you a pair of speakers that suit your budget.

Re: Spec me a set of speakers

I use my HD 212 Pro speakers whenever im playing a game, or really listening to music, if not i just use my speakers when im browsing the internet, only half concentrating on music. I have been trying to let these speakers die before getting new ones, for two reasons, one i paid so little it seemed silly not to get full use out of them, second I wanted to wait until i had more money, and now i have enough to upgrade them.
