    Laptop Recommendations... Confused

    hey guys,
I am looking to buy a laptop for uni. I've been looking at 13inchers as they seem to be lighter then the standard 15.6. However as usuall with pcs the smaller you go the more expensive. My budget is around £300 - 400 and I saw the Lenovo S12 for £269 which I figured is a bargain as I don't need a very powerful laptop. I noticed though most of the current 13inch laptops use ultra low voltage processors which are clocked much slower then an atom. So I'm now getting confused, which is faster, an atom or one of the new intel ULV processors? I've seen this lenovo which looks good for the price except I'm confused by its processor, is it any good? If both of my choices are then if you wouldn't mind recommending me something for around my price.
Also I have a 20% voucher for comet so if they have anything decent (all looked crap to me) that would be handy as I could then go for say a £500 one and get 20% off it putting it within my budget.
Hopefully someone can help because this is a confusing business.

An Intel Atom 1.6GHz is about as fast as a 1GHz single core "Intel Core" processor, e.g. Intel Celeron. Low voltage processors simply mean the CPUs run at lower voltages to reduce energy consumption, while retaining the same performance as their standard voltage brethren at the same clock speed.

The Lenvo U350 you linked to with the 1.2GHz Celeron chip has a slight performance edge over the 1.6GHz Atom Lenvo S12. Between the two I'd go for the U350, it's not a bad machine for the price.

Check out the new Dell Vostro V13, it's a bit tight with your budget but looks the business. Also, consider expanding your search to 14" laptops, I personally find 13" a little too small

How about the Acer Timeline 3810TZ. It's got a dual core 1.3GHz Intel CULV Pentium (much faster than an Atom!), 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Windows 7. £449 before delivery @ comet, but with your voucher that's only ~ £360. Also, if your voucher works online you can get an extra 3% cashback with QuidCo so about another £10 (assuming they do cash back on the cost after voucher reductions).
