Question (Good) Experience with Hitachi 2TB 7K2000 7200rpm?

I need to expand my storage and decided to go for a 2TB HDD. The cheapest I could find is the one from Hitachi. However, I never used Hitachi HDDs before, could any one comment on their experiences with Hitachi drives in general and the model above in particular?

I noticed that this 2TB model does not support NCQ. Should that be a concern for use in a home PC (mostly with big movie files)?

Re: (Good) Experience with Hitachi 2TB 7K2000 7200rpm?

been using hitachi for 7/8 years and the only problems ive had with the drives are from my own inneptitude in caring for them.

external backup/shifting big files drive is the zk1000 and it runs lovely.
main OS runs very hapily on the 320gb version.
games run very well on the 640gb version.
movies run stutter free on a slightly knackered, recently started clicking, 250gb ide version from 2005.

you cant really go wrong with them, aslong as you dont do stupid things like stopping a defrag halfway through, installing a game or 3, starting the defrag off again and then restarting the computer without stopping the defrag first.

all 4 drives are quiet too and dont get hot - although i do have 2 120mm xigmatech fans blowing on them at 1150rpm

and if anyone mentions deathstars i'm going to slap them with my penguin that was over a decade ago, get over it.

I have the 1Tb Hitachi 7k1000. Works just fine. As fast as any other 7200 drive, I've only had it for about 6 months though.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.
