External HDD.. Usb and Sata connection question..

My LG tv has a USB port and plays media from drives.

    I have found this:

Would I be able to connect a HDD to the PC using a 2metre eSata to Sata cable, and also have it connected to my TV via USB at the same time? This would mean I can use the drive as a backup drive, and also watch stuff on the drive using the TV without having to unplug anything.

ALSO... I don't know if I should even ask this... But would connecting the TV usb directly to my PC usb work, and allow me the browse the HDDs connected to my PC? Or would that just be a quick way to fry both my PC and my TV?

Re: External HDD.. Usb and Sata connection question..

None of the above you said would work. The chipset will either freeze when you plug both in, or cut off one of the connection. Some enclosure have a switch to switch between the two interfaces. (Akasa have it when I bought mine ages ago)

Even if (remotely possible) that both interfaces work at the same time you're likely to see the filesystem get corrupted when either device make changes to the harddrive (say updating the last access time), or even just generating thumbnails.
