    Quiter Shuttle

Just fitted my SB62G2 with a new Shuttle Silent PSU and Noiseblocker S4 (for the ICE). Very impressed with the drop in noise so far, its at least 1/2 and a worthwhile mod. Big up to Tekheads.co.uk for having both of the items in stock in delivered next day. If anyone new to shuttles is pondering over this upgrade, I'd advise to go for it. Now all I have to do is stealth the dvd drive and shush it! Oh and btw - shuttle psu fs - if anyone wants it!!!

The silentX and noiseblocker combo seems to be working extremely well for shuttle users now. I acutally use the S2 noiseblocker as its a lot quieter than the S3/S4 but still shifts enough air to cool my overclocked cpu

I've just installed the NoiseBlocker S2, which seems nicely quiet, and the SilentX PSU, which seems hideously noisy!

Actually, the first time I powered on, it seemed fine. Nice and quiet. Went out, came back in, installed the S2 fan and a new HDD, and all of a sudden the PSU seems to be just whining at me.

    Can anyone suggest any remedy?

    Cheers,

    cyb.

I might juts be that you have a one off dodgy item. Check the fans to ensure they dont' have a build up of dust or hair around the bearings. This can cause an increase in noise level

I think it's ok now. I didn't want to believe it was faulty, so I fiddled about with the shuttle innards for a while - I think the noise might have been caused by a fan vibrating a cable or something - plausible given the lack of room inside the box.

Nice and quiet now, and although I can't remember how noisy it was before, I definitely recommend this silent PSU.
