Wireless Internet?

My Problem
In our house, there is a computer downstairs connected to broardband internet. I would like to have another computer in the spare room upstairs, but there is no phone socket anywhere near by. Is there something that I could buy that would allow me to be connected to the same connection as the computer downstairs wirelessly?

Wireless Printer?
Also on the topic of wirelessness, the computer downstairs had a printer connected - is it possible to connect it wirelessly to the computer upstairs?

You should be able to run a standard wireless network and enable ICS (internet connection sharing) on the computers. I dont know much about wireless so cant give you any hints on that. As for the printer, once you network the comps then you will be able to share your printer as if it was on the local machine.

Unless you have a router or something you would have to leave the computer with internet connection and printer on whenever you wanted to use the printer/internet from the other computer though.

You either get two wireless adapters for the computers & set up Internet Connection Sharing, or get a wireless broadband router, with adapters in both computers.

If you'll only ever have two computers and don't have any special net access needs (eg incoming connections etc) then just go with ICS. Also, if you expect to add any more comps the network then perhaps a wireless router is a better idea.

In either setup, just set up the printer as a shared printer and the other comp will see it over the network (once isntalled - on XP 'tis a doddle.)

But with ICS, the main computer has to be turned on when I used the net?

Edit: and by an adapter in both PC's, is that like a card sort of thing to put in the back of the PC?

These two items (1 wireless ADSL router, and two wireless USB thingies.)

If you want quicker, you could always have a browse about, maybe look at wireless g instead of wireless b (b operates at 11Mbit/s, g at 55Mbit/s.)
