Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows or has had experience of "portable" wireless kit (ap/router). I'm thinking about something I could take on holiday so would need to be relatively small.. custom firmware would be nice too
Thanks

do you want battery powered?
do you want a USB slot for a cellular USB dongle?
Not sure
I guess something that plugs into the socket, found this: http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=2542
Although seems pretty difficult to get a hold of and its mentioned on tomshardware that it only supports WEP
Edit: not really looking for usb dongle support
Thats a four and a half year old press release, it obviously never caught on.
What do you want to do with this? Why do you want to take a router/access point on holiday?
Why not use adhoc wireless?
Some apartments we goto only have a broadband connection (ie, physical), would be nice to be able to plug in a portable unit which is preconfigured on any devices I might have (phone/laptop/ds etc)
Got you.
This should do the trick: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/travel-outdoors/c67c/
You should be able to find similar on a UK site.
It's a cable router so should work with any ethernet internet connection provided in hotel rooms or appartments.
