Question Recommend a UPS for home office / multiple machines?

I have 2 pcs, and sometimes a laptop, running off a single wall socket (only one in the room). Have recently been experiencing power surges that cause everything to reboot. Previously running fine for years - no new hardware to cause surge, and could easily be the halogen-type heater being used elsewhere in the house.

Sometimes have a printer running (either inkjet or laser, not both simultaneously), single HP 24" screen (shared between the PCs), usual 5.1 speakers, sometimes a video camera or 2.

Should I get a unit like this:

    or this

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/700Va...ersonal-XT-UPS

    or something completely different?

One can never stop saying Thank You

APC Smart-UPS. A bit expensive, depending on how you much you value your equipment, data and time, but very good.

    I use a Smart-UPS 750i.

Never plug in any laser printer or speaker system in to a UPS.

Re: Recommend a UPS for home office / multiple machines?

    APC says:

"In order to ensure longer runtime on a battery, laser printers should never be plugged into battery backup outlets of a UPS. Be sure to use the “surge-only” outlets (on appropriate models) for laser printers. For those UPSs without “surge-only” outlets, it is recommended that the laser printer be plugged into a separate APC SurgeArrest surge suppressor."

I can't remember where I read about the case for not putting speakers on a UPS.
