    Shuttle hanging at startup

    First off hello everyone!

Grrrr this is bugging me and becoming more frequent, when i turn on the computer it will often hang on the bios startup, not even posting, turn it off and 8/10 times it will work, failing that another reboot and we are away. It does it when i exit the bios too. I have my spec in the sig, and have disabled all overclocks, upgraded to the latest bios and tried all i can think off. Any ideas or advise would be welcome. As you can see i get a half post but mouse and keyboard are not operational and the system will stay in that state until i reboot

I would first make sure that there are no loose connections and also reset the CMOS.

    Re: Shuttle hanging at startup

    Two things occur:

    1) unusual USB device. I built a PC for a friend which suddenly developed this problem. When I finally managed to troubleshoot it in person, it turned out to be a USB Wireless N network card - for some reason the PC was failing to initialise from a cold boot when it tried to enumerate the USB devices. So first up just pull out all your USB devices and see what happens

    2) Memory problem. It would appear from the screenshot that the hang occurs before, or right at the start of, the memory check. It might be worth running some appropriate memory checking program (I've not done this for many years, so I'm not sure what the recommended program is nowadays!).
