    Just ordered a

    Intel Core 2 Duo E7600.

Should I overclock this? or keep it standard? 3.06GhZ for a c2d is amazingly fast as it is! D:

    Re: Just ordered a

At stock it should be fine I've found 3ghz to be close to the optimum performance level for c2d, actual noticable performance drops off after about 2.6ghz.

However saying that I'd push it higher, depending on the rest of the pc of course, esp motherboard, memory and esp PSU.
How high you can safely push it will depend on your other components.

if its a G31 board there may not actually be overclocking options available to you, if they are they will most likely be very limited.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

It seems the motherboard has a decent level of overclocking features:

    http://www.goldfries.com/hardware-re...rboard-review/

Even at stock speeds the E7600 will be a huge upgrade over a single core Pentium 4 or even a dual core Pentium 4 AFAIK.

    Re: Just ordered a

Yes even at stock it's going to be much better than a p4

    As to your specs
    2GB RAM
    650w PSU
What memory is that? and what psu is that? (I couldn't find any details on a Titan 650watt psu)
You're over clock is goig to be limited by ether the cpu or the memory or the "cleaness" of the power.
The motherboard should be able to handle a decent overclock, however if that review CAT linked to is correct the lack of memory multipliers could be a real issue.
Not sure that's the clearest of BIOS's for overclocking but if I'm reading that right you "should" be able to hit 300fsb with pc2-6400 memory for around 3.4ghz total before the memory becomes an issue.

The psu is a CiT Titan 650w (Budget power supply) and the memory is some DDR2 I salvaged from an old HP. Samsung I think. And if im only going to be pushing .4Ghz out of it I might just leave it stock.
