    Re: HD 5830 spotted

Well there been some intresting points made that when the 5870 is underclocked to the same speed as the 5850 they perform the same.
This looks like that on the surface that the extra streams and texture units are doing little for the 5870 in most games and that it's the back end ROPs that are more important (the 5850 and 5870 have the same 32 ROPs)
So how is the 5830 going to be for ROPs? and will the reduction in streams&texture units actually come into play?

Still if the estimated price is correct around £185

£168 seems like a nice price for that Sapphire card.

thats what I was thinking. at that sort of price i'd be interested in swapping my gtx 260 for one. hopefully the performance will be as good as or greater than the gtx 285

    Re: HD 5830 spotted

I can't see it being better than the GTX 285 because thats the 5850's zone, around the same as or just less is a lot more likely, and you can always overclock of course
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: HD 5830 spotted

good price that, considering the msi's 5770 hawk is @ scan for £155ish - which dependant on other factors is one of my considerations. but if this price is right then holding out for the release of the 5830 and see what it can do is the thing to do. and maybe hold on a bit longer and see if a vapor-x version appears - although would the premium for it not take it to near the 5850?
