You mean you broke the plug on the laptop end?

If this is the case there is no way i'd pay £90 for a repllacement. Surely it cant be that hard to fix. I dont know sony laptops but do they use generic plugs or are they semi standard? Either way i'd definatly have a go at fixing it first.

A trip to Maplin will tell you if the plug is generic or not. If you can find a plug to match it, cut of the existing plug, strip down the wire and solder the new one on.

Serlex, any chance you could tell us WHICH vaio it is, as in model number, please? Different models=different wattage even if the voltage is the same.

You can buy 3rd party replacements for about the £50-£60 mark, but in terms of original parts, the cheapest I could find was http://www.greatsaves.co.uk/product.asp?id=2520 £79 inc VAT. Is that any use to you?

I hope so too - all the refs I can find list that adapter for the GR-series machines, but it could well be cross-compatible. Guess you'll find out soon though.
