    help with questions?

as a newbie i am stuck on a couple of things before i buy my hardware.
i was looking at a x58 chipset mobo, but have found a nice p55 chipset, what are the big differences in them? they are the intel i7 and the mobo`s are asus.

also if you want to have alot of fans is it possible to connect them if the mobo only has room for 4? extra cables?

i was also looking at corsair memory dom gt 4gb or dom xmx 6gb, what would be a better choice more memory or better memory?

    Re: help with questions?

P55 and X58 are different socket (P55 Socket 1156, X58 Socket 1366) so be careful which CPU you're buying (One doesn't fit the other)
P55 only support dual channel so you can only use the 4GB kit
X58 is triple channel so you should use the 6GB kit

If you want more than 4 fans you can chain them together using fan header splitter. If your fans use molex connectors then just connect them directly to the PSU.

    Re: help with questions?

More RAM is always better than faster RAM - more so when there are anemic gains going beyond 1600MHz RAM for the time being.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: help with questions?

Read up the i7 overclocking thread (also applies to i5)

Also NightKhaos did a good explination here
    http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...-i5-build.html
With his help I managed to get my head around the theory
    http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...ml#post1801228

The thing I've found so intresting is that the CAS is just as important as the speed, can be more important, so pay attention to it.
    1333mhz cas7 is actually faster than 1600mhz cas9
