Dell Vostro 430 or xps 435mt

Hi guys new here and have a small dilemma that I am considering.

Guys ive got a small dilemma

I have bought a dell xps 435MT i7 920 with 4gb (4x1)ddr3, 640gb HD, vista (although will get the upgrade) and a gt220 1gb graphics card. for £493 delivered from dell outlet, but I have seen but have priced up a vostro 430 system and I am wondering if its a better deal.

After upgrading to i7 860 and 4gb (2x2)ram with ta 512mb 4350 graphics card and 64bit win 7 it would work out at £522 delivered not taking into account cash back.

Any thoughts ? Is the xps a better buy ??. The XPS is due for delivery on Monday but I won't be home anyway and can always refuse delivery.

A couple of considerations are the xps is triple channel memory, but it is obviously a refurb as well also I plan on moving 2 of my existing 3 hard drives into the new system also but believe the xps has limited capacity for this.

    Thanks in advance

    All help welcome

The Core i7 920 is better suited for non gaming applications whereas the Core i7 860 is better suited for gaming.

Thanks, prob won't do much gaming on it. Do you know though if the xps is any different from the vostro or just a gimmick ?

AFAIK,the XPS line is higher end than the Vostro.

Yeah thats what I believe but not sure if it is just a gimmick. Seems a lot of system for <£500 was going to build but don't think I could get near that price with those kind of specs.

Would thank you in the post but haven't quite worked that out yet !!!

Vostro are the cheaper/budget business end from Optiplex (desktops) and latitudes (notebooks). XPS are for the more gaming/studio/home user market

Thanks Dirky, so with the spec I have listed do you think the XPS is a better buy ?

My negatives towards it are that it comes with vista (although I will get upgrade), its got slower ram (1066) and has less space for Hard drives.

Pros are its possibly better built and has a slightly better graphics card.

    Cheers

    Ali

TBH it is probably way over powered for what I need, will be doing limited video editing but never really playing games or that.
