Doesn't really matter, the card will always run at its full capacity (unless limited by slow CPU) regardless of 1280x1024 or 1600x1200. It just put out much higher frame rate at 1280x1024. If your monitor is 1600x1200 you should play at that resolution, otherwise your image won't be as sharp.

Re: XFX HD 4850 512mb for £80 ... Good deal!?

I shouldn't worry if I was you, I had to shell out £115 for an ASUS 4850 for a mates build 9 months ago

£80 isn't a bad price for the card, although as people have said they were selling a lot cheaper just before the 57x0 came out as people cleared out their stocks. Presumably they're edging back up now because the cheapest 5750 is ~ £90 and the 5670 has come in massively overpriced for it's relatively low performance... there's not really anything to challenge it at £75 - £80...

The 4850 and gts250 perform around the same and have simular power requirements (actually the gts250 is slightly lower at full load but the 4850 is slightly lower at idle)

    Ether will run 1600x1200 fine
My original 9800gtx 512mb which is slightly slower than both of them plays fine on 1680x1050
