Hi
I am about to set up a Home theatre and i just wanted to know if it was possible to plug netbooks to the TV and watch movies from them without it freezing etc.
I particularly like the dell notebooks as they seem cheap

my samsung plasma has got a VGA input with a 3.5mm headphones plug so anything can be plugged in to it. It all depends if your netbook can support those resolutions.
and im not entirely sure about this, but playing even 1080p vid doesnt take that much proccesing power
Yes the Atom struggles, I've found for watching video (non hd) I has to set my eeepc to max performance and ideally have the power pluged in.
Mainly because without the power it automatically under clocks the cpu, so the only way to keep it at the full 1.6ghz is have it pluged in on max performance mode.
Oh an I do hope you're not planning to watch dvd's as nebooks don't have dvd drives.
You'd probably be better off with a netbox

well, i havent actually bought it yet (hence asking haha, i was looking your sale thing and kinda wish i bought it now) well i won be playing 720 stuff, it will just be 480 enlarged i think. i am thinking about getting the one with HDMI which will pass image and sound onto the TV ()
well i was planning to watch things like 24 etc. that have resolutions of: 624x352
i now my sisters Acer lappy does play it ok, but it gets fairly noisy after a while and i dont want to damage my netbook in the long run. alternative is to have a dedicated PC to play from i guess.
a netbook, using the nvidia ion platform is supposed to be able to handle HD stuff, you could look for something along those lines.
sorry, i mean to say plugged in to a HDTV NOT watch HD stuff. im not too fussed about higher detail lol, just to be able to watch my TV show on there.
