Will Zalman VF700 fit a HD 5750?

I am thinking about getting this HSF to help cool my overheating MSI HD 5750. It is running 52c idle and 84c load:

The issue is I don't know if it will fit my card. Reviewer on newegg claimed that it fits his 4850. I am not sure if the screw holes for the 4800 series and 5700 series are the same.

I would not recommend using that on it's own. Although it may cool down the GPU itself, the memory chips, mosfets, etc will also need some sort of cooling.

Have you actually looked at the stock cooler of a 5750?


I know the 5770 has the same hole spaceing as the 4770

I'd consider the VF900-Cu over the 700 (if it fits)
However by replaceing the stock cooler you do void the warranty, so this is done totally at your own risk.
I'd consider contacting Zalman first and see what they say.

tbh that's not really overheating for a gfx card, most are rated to run well above 100 degrees. The biggest issue you'll have if you do get something like that Zalman, is that all that heat will simply be blown around inside your case, making everything else hotter - not really an improvement. Unless you can get a compatible GPU cooler that will exhaust the heat from the case I don't think I'd bother, when the stock cooler is actually doing a perfectly acceptable job...

Well the stock heat sink on the 5750 is just a wide finned lump of aluminium with a fan on top, made to look a bit better with a sheet of plastic on top of that.



So just replaceing that with a simple copper, higher density of fin cooler should help improve it, how much by? impossible to say off hand.

Most of the reviews I've seen put the 5750 at around 30c-40c idel and 60c-70c load
But reviews are normally done of open test frames so another 10c in a case can be expected if you're air flow is not high.

I toyed with the fan speed setting in MSI Afterburner, now the temp looks a lot better:

It is 51c idle and 78c load. It is still not pretty, but not exactly ugly either. The major problem with upping the fan speed of course is that the fan is sounding like a tornado touching down. An aftermarket cooler is worth the money if it can deliver marginally better temp but at much lower noise.
