    Atom 330 + ION

At work our main IT supplyer/contractor has let us have a netbox pc to evaluate and test.

    It's one of the Atom 330 dualcore cpu, ION chipset, windows 7, 2Gb ddr2, 80gb 2.5" HDD.

Must say, from my inital look at it, it's a really nice little unit.

I'll be putting it through it's paces in the comming week or two.

No branding that I remember, it's an OEM unit, one of the first things I did was take out the screws and pop it open to see inside.
    Foxconn motherboard.

My inital impressions of using it was it's quite nippy.

Can anyone sugest any bench mark type software I should consider running on it?

    Re: Atom 330 + ION

    What about 3DMark06??

This would give a good indication of how good the system is for older games. I would run the benchmark at 1024X768 and 1280X1024.

    Re: Atom 330 + ION

What would be good for benchmarking single threaded vs multi threaded?
A good general cpu+memory+harddrive access test?
Also going to need to run it on xp machines. (the windows 7 performance test gave 3.2 the cpu being to low point)

going to compair it to old 2.8ghz celerons, newer pentium dual core E2200 and even some p3 1.2ghz (I think)

    Is it one of these?

I almost bought one as an HTPC but decided against it.

I'd be interested to read your views on it after you've had a chance to thrash it a bit.

    I decided against it for a few reasons;

There are varying reports on the noise the fan makes
HDMI output isn't consistent with people complaining about having to force it to 1080p24
    There's no option to adjust the GPU RAM (128 with a 1Gb stick, 256 with a 2Gb and 512 with a 4Gb)
WiFi is on all the time with no BIOS option to switch it off at all - you have to do it in Device Manager.

Etc. It just seemed a bit too buggy/picky for my liking

Cinebench lets you benchmark between 1 and X threads.

3DMark06 resaults - Unknown, it want to upload the resaults to view they but doesn't work from behind a proxy that requires a logon, so no way to upload them
Dureing the test I was only getting around 5fps and the cpu tests were about 4seconds a frame.

    OCB resaults - CPMark 603
However it was only using one of the two cpu cores and the total cup load never went over 25%
    So it's not working correctly.

Watching web video works well, no stuttering on Hexus.tv

    18.3fps @ 1280x1024 x0 FSAA
    12.3fps @1024x768 4x FSAA

    Cinebench R10
    OpenGL Standard = 1139 CB-GFX
    CPU Single core = 536 CB-CPU
    Multi core = 1531 CB-CPU
    Multiprocessor speed up 2.85x

The single cpu test took about 28min
the multi cpu test (used 4 simutainious) took 9min 37sec

Runs about 30% cpu usage during the openGl test
