Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
An update:
Trawling through my loft, I stumbled upon my old Lian-Li PC-0700 case which looks perfectly usable for this application and saves a bit on the budget. I'll have to hack the back of the storage unit to get it to fit as there was less than 1cm clearance between the back of the case and the back of the unit at present. I'll be looking to soundproof it properly at some stage too -has anyone tried any of the car type stuff like Dynamat and so forth?. I've placed an order with Scan today taking advantage of their Today Only offers as a few of the components I was after appeared. Unfortunately I didn't qualify for free postage:
1x 1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3
1x ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
1x AMD Phemon II x2 550 Black Edition
1x Xigmatek HDT-D1284
1x Windows 7 Professional (wouldn't need Ultimate for this application)
1x 80mm Fractal Design 1400RPM (for the rear)
1x Arctic Silver 5
Yet to place an order for the remainder, there seems to be a bit of contention with regards to memory and eBuyer seem to be cheaper for Ballistix than Crucial direct but can't give an ETA. Any alternatives recommended?
Will take snaps of the progress if there's any interest in my remarkably plain build.
OCuk have Patriot Sector 5 Viper II 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel at £83.

Low latency too.
I know some people here don't like them, but I think the memory isn't badly priced and it's in stock.
I'd be interested in how the sound proofing goes as I'm interested in doing myself.
Thanks for that; lifetime warrantied, low latency and reasonably priced. Got to be worth considering.
As for the soundproofing, I've been trawling through the kits offered by the usual suspects, but without reading some independent reviews, the jury's out.
Has anyone had any experience with G.Skill DDR3 a la:
http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_5250.html ?
Also, according to the Asus specs, the board M4A79XTDEVO only supports up to 1333MHz?

Looks a go-er, CAT. Any experience with GSkill stuff?
Quick heads up. If the 1284 only points up/down then it will hang over the ram slots. Any blinged (tall heatsinked) ram may not allow you to place your cooler!
Good call that man. Might be worth assembling it first to see what I've got to play with (ooh err).. Any recommendations for low heatsinked DDR3?
Don't like the look of the D1284 at all, going to swap it for the S1283.
Got virtually everything to complete the build now, there was a slight delay with Novatech for the GPU who failed to contact me for a card issue, but all was resolved with a quick call and it's now on it's way.
The memory is another matter altogether. Apparently eBuyer are unable to source the Cruicial at the moment so I decided to roll the dice with "Over.......s" with the Patriot. Allegedly 10+ in stock so I purchased and paid for Next Day delivery but appreicated as I was ordeering on Wednesday after the cut off time, it wasn't likely to arrive until Friday. I rang them on Friday afternoon to try and find out why their tracking information said it was still in their warehouse and was told they'd been very busy and to expect it on Monday instead. No problem, I wasn't in a major hurry but would have been nice to have been notified and had something back on the postage. Nevermind. Today I sent them an online message asking for a tracking number and received a quick reply stating it was out of stock and asking whether I'd like to consider something else. Interesting considering they took the money straight away and are STILL showing 10+ in stock. I've asked them for an ETA on new stock but as yet I've not received a response. That'll teach me for ignoring reviews!
