    Intel Atom - D510MO

Just ordered one of the new intel atom mini itx boards from Tranquil and i can,t wait for delivery. I shall be using it instead of my nas and to stream to squeezeboxes and hopefully download etc, it only consumes 13 watts so i am hoping it will run 24/7. Any opinions on this new board please.

I think you should have waited a bit, there are much better Pineview boards coming out, see for example the overview at www linuxtech.net

    (can't post links as I'm a newbie here... )

Oh no, Marvelous. It just seems to tick the box,s i needed. There will always be better boards i guess but this seemed a good board, pity no hdmi etc or the fact that there are few sata ports. As you say its early days and i will have a read about the upcoming stuff, thanks.

    Good overview of the boards
Surprising the number still with parallel printer ports - unless they get used in some control application can't see the point

2 SATA only and no IDE (so can't get IDE-to-2SATA adaptor). Backward step from the D945GCLF2

No HDMI so no HTPC really...

Could have been a bit better specced and the price at Tranquil is just too much for what it is.. May as well go Ion at that price

    Re: Intel Atom - D510MO

Just found the same board here for a fair bit cheaper: http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpr...t_id=ITOA06TI9 or http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=47#d510mo not sure how things would work out with postage etc but if it would save you money you could send back the one you ordered under the Distance Selling Regulations for a full refund excluding any shipping costs. Have you received it yet?

Most mini-itx boards are aimed at the embedded / industrial market rather than home consumers. That means they may have to interface with legacy printing hardware e.g. label printers, receipt printers etc., so you'd be cutting of a big chunk of the market if you designed an indutrial board without parrallel...
