Missing BootMGR on Win 7 Install

Hello good folk Hexus. Hoping for a bit of help.

15% into installing win 7 I got a message advising "could not install all files" and the installation stopped. On reboot there's a message stating "BootMGR is missing".

Ok I thought, I'll use XP to do a full format and try again.

No such luck, exactly the same message.

Hmm, that's a worry! I thought. Not to worry, I'll try use Xpress recovery from the MB disc. Nope, same error message!

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to my next step? Not sure if this is an issue with the Motherboard but... Hmm...

    E5400
    Gigabyte P31.
    Corsair Value Select 2gb.
    GeForce8600 GT.
    Samsung F1 320GB.

    Any ideas? Help enormously appreciated.

EDIT: I should also add after much searching it's suggested that going through recovery once into the disc helps, unfortunately I cannot get to this stage as the error pops up just after post and you cannot go any further.

    Bad times indeed!

You shouldn't be getting that message if you are booting from DVD/CD unless your DVD/CD is either damaged or doesn't have BootMGR in the first place...

Normally I would suggest using the bootable fix-everything wizard in the Windows 7 DVD, but seeing as you error out...

    Occam's Razor.

I often find a PS2 Keyboard comes in handy in these situations...

    Sorted now
