Just trawled through my emails. it came from specialtech
    http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...6&cat=0&page=1

I picked soem other bits up at the same time so the postage wasnt an issue. Might be worth harassing scan and see if they can get any stock.

Went for the Zalman and picked up some other little bits and bobs (screws etc) whilst I was at it. Thanks for all the input

Specialtech do 1st class postage as one of the options, much lower p&p costs
They also do the nice cheap yate-loon and lian-li fans

    Re: Fan controllers

    Bit of a thread re-awakening...

I've just bought a Corsair 700D chassis, and I'm looking for a really simple fan controller with no annoying flashing lights or displays. The Scythe Kaze Q does the job perfectly: http://www.quietpc.com/products/caseaccessories/kazeq but unfortunately the 700D doesn't have any 3.5" bays at the front.

Anyone know of anything like this that'd fit in a 5.25" bay? The Zalman ZM-MFC1 looks almost perfect, but is it possible to turn the LEDs off?

    Re: Fan controllers

The LED's can not be turned off but if you remove the front and place two layers of black tape over the holes (on the inside), then the light does not pass through.

I use this in my 800D

Fits in nicely with the black aluminium design, its simple and works very well, not had a problem so far and had it a while.

I second the zalman, had it for about 2 years, no problems, and just to let you know the zalman logo and the rest of the writing is much more understated then in that pic, I had to go real close just now to see if the writing was there... turns out it is lol, neva noticed that b4

    Re: Fan controllers

I know it's been sugested to go over the led's with a black permanent marker, this will only dull down the LED's not block the totally.

You should be able to just cut one of the wires going to them, that should stop the glow.
Personally I like the LED's it's just red or blue.

Actually just remembered, you can disable the LED but using a 2pin fan.
Simple way to do this on a normal 3pin fan is to remove the yellow lead/connector from the fan's plug.
The yellow lead on a normal 3pin fan is the rpm monitor cable.

    Re: Fan controllers

Yeah, not too keen on the Zalman on because of the LEDs. I've just found out that the Scythe Kaze Server has an on-off button for the screen and is in fact absolutely ideal for what I want to do. Problem solved

    Re: Fan controllers

Umm I'd check that, I though the LCD display on the scythe comes on when the controller is on, ie if you turn it off you also turn off the fans.

I'm not 100% on that so you better check it first.

Yeah, I was worrying about that also. It would be epically stupid if it didn't just turn off the screen... Anyway, I've confirmed it's just a switch for the screen by reading multiple forums.
