Abit IP35 says 7F then FF but no video output - please help!
Can anyone help - I get no video feed - my Abit IP35 Pro stops on 7F but if hit F1 it runs through to FF - still no video! What now?!
What happened:
This PC (see spec below) has been running fine for months.
This morning I fire up Unreal Tournament 3 and I get Psychedlic green and pink lines instead of a video image. I immediately reboot and even the boot up screen has the same green lines. Damn I think "I know what this is - bust video card." I had the BFG 8800 listed below in. Not wanting to mess around I went straight out and got a new card: The GTX260 listed below. I stick the card back in, connect 2 8-pin PCI-Ex power leads in the top of the card (also having to move the HDs around to fit the card in) and try to boot up.
Now my monitor doesn't even get a signal - just the "check signal cable" thing.
My board said: 7F - which is video problem I think? I hit F1 though - and it ran through to FF - supposedly normal. However I have no video feed at all.
Now if I reboot it seems to stop on 7F briefly but then automatically runs through to FF.
Can anyone help? What do I do now?!

Re: Abit IP35 says 7F then FF but no video output - please help!
update: if I put the old card back in i get exactly the same thing - no signal on the monitor and the board stops briefly at 7F but then runs through to FF.
Re: Abit IP35 says 7F then FF but no video output - please help!
what BIOS version are you running?
Can you try another older gfx card as it appears that the IP35 Pro is OK.
It sure sounds like the BFG had gone & it may be that the GTX260 has an incompatibility (although PCI-E 2.0 should be backward compatible).
7F is the board waiting on an input from you but it can occur with more than just video problems.
Re: Abit IP35 says 7F then FF but no video output - please help!
Thanks for the reply - not sure of BIOS version - bought summer '08 and never updated. I don't think I can get my hands on another card to shove in there unfortunately at the moment... maybe i should purchase a v. cheap gfx card - just so i can get in and update the bios?
it sounds to you like the board is ok? cos my first thought was dammit my board is bust too!
Re: Abit IP35 says 7F then FF but no video output - please help!
Try the second PCI-E slot and see if it gives any output.
Re: Abit IP35 says 7F then FF but no video output - please help!
oooo forgot that this card had a second slot - was a great idea.
Mostly because it helped to uncover my complete stupidity - on sticking it in the second slot, I realised that my monitor lead had become unplugged from the monitor side. I know I know - I'm such an idiot - I could have sworn it was screwed in...
So actually the new gtx260 card is working fine in the original slot on the abit board.
Thanks both of you for your help - maybe my admittance of stupidity can help someone else in the future! :)
Now probably from all my messing about - my board got stuck on a CC POST message - which I *think* i've sorted with a reset!
Anyway I think I'm on my way - thanks again!

Haha, I've got to keep this one noted incase I encounter the same problem.
Glad everything is up and running!
