PC Build - Anything I should change?
I'd like a good performance PC that will be still good for up to 4 years. Maybe even able to add on upgrades, at the moment my motherboard is outdated to even use an i3 cpu.
One last priority is silence, the quieter and cooler the better.

I was also thinking is Intel worth it over AMD?
Anything I have missed/should change? I'm not THAT up to date on the new tech stuff.:angst:
Re: PC Build - Anything I should change?
You have 2 PSU's in that list?
Re: PC Build - Anything I should change?
Doesn't the motherboard already on board lan?
Edit: Just checked, has 10/100/1000

Re: PC Build - Anything I should change?
£160 sounds insane for a GTX 260, I'd take a 5770/5830 over that any day of the week.
Re: PC Build - Anything I should change?
Whoops.
Infinite - can you vouch for most parts being pretty quiet too?
Re: PC Build - Anything I should change?
Infinite seems to have fixed most of the peculiarities.
You might want to think about the fans and CPU heatsink etc. I tend to buy a mix of Scythe & Noctua fans and heat sinks for a quiet air cooled PC.
Re: PC Build - Anything I should change?
A graphics card at that performance level is never going to be silent or even quiet... would highly recommend an after-market cooler if you want that sort of thing.
The 5*** range do run cool though, so they're a good choice.
Re: PC Build - Anything I should change?
I'd just go for the vapor-x model from Sapphire. Never did like the idea of removing and replacing GPU coolers. Snootyjim is right though... you do need to be aware of how loud the graphics card will be and choose carefully. Most graphics cards seem OK at idle but obviously ramp up when gaming which for me isn't a problem. Some 3rd party coolers are louder than the stock design because they are more aimed at performance. Avoid overclocked cards if noise is your primary concern. The overclocks don't make a massive difference anyway and cards at stock clocks are just fine imo.

Re: PC Build - Anything I should change?
Also if you want a quiet PC you will have to replace the stock Intel cooler with an aftermarket one
Get a tower which can take a 120mm fan as these are usually quiet and can push a reasonable amout of air at low revs
something like this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Proli...-1366-(Fanless) with a 120mm Yate loon fan would be ideal
oops sorry CAT already got in there....CAT is that cooler okay for a Socket 1156?

Primary use will be for movie editing and images, sizes could be 1gb+ per image file and also want to use it for gaming such as L4D, COD, etc

What is your total budget BTW??
If you could add a Core i7 860 to the build I suggested it would be a good choice.
