    Spec me a pc

A mate of mine is uprading from a p4 2.8ghz and a 1950. Can anyone spec me a rig for him, i am undecided on wether to put my old copy of vista on it, or windows 7. Only needs the base unit, has keyboard mouse and monitor, max spend of £460, i get free delivery on scan and overclockers.

Gaming mainly, needs grunt for that, and so that its powerful enough, I am good at overclocking, so thats fine, and i have a good cpu cooler for him, so you can choose a weaker triple core and i will clock it to make it faster.

He will be playing left 4 dead 2, some older games, with the option of playing newer games at 1280x1024.

    Thanks

    Blaine

Does your friend need a copy of Windows??

    Edit!!

    Just realise you have Vista.

DX11 will run under Vista so don't waste any money on Windows 7 unless he is a student and can get it cheaper or perhaps free if he has access to MSDNAA.

This is very good for the money if you can get all of that for around £300!

Get rid of the generic PSU and get a Corsair HX450W from Scan this weekend for around £52:

This HD4870 1GB Vapor X is on OcUK for around £100:

If your friend needs to get a copy of Windows 7 he should use the integrated graphics on the motherboard until he can buy a decent graphics card.
