In need of a new PSU - What Size should I get?
Hey Guys,
The PSU on my brothers two year old PC has popped this week so hes in the market for a new one. He's kinda on a tight budget so wants something as cheap as possible but what will run all of his components, thats where you guys come in because i have no idea what size he is going to need. At present he has these components in his PC:
GFX: BFG nVidia Ge-Force GTX 260
MB: Asus P5Q Pro
Processor: Intel core-2-duo E8500 3.16Ghz
RAM: Corsair XMS2 DDR2 4Gb (2 x 2Gb pair)
1 x DVD/RW
1 x WD 360GB HDD
2 x Case Fans
If you need anymore info please ask :)

I would probably go with the HX450W or this Silverstone 500W modular unit:

And a 400W PSU will be powerful enough? (he had an 850W PSU in before).

Only reason you'd need an 850w would be for if you where going sli and a quad core.

A highly overclocked Core i7 920 and a pair of HD5970 cards will run off a decent 800W PSU:

What's your budget on the PSU?? If budget isn't really much of an concern then this PSU will do the trick:
