£400-500 New Rig Advice.

Been using a REVO for about 2 weeks as my main PC and its too slow for me. I want to build some thing small, cute and quiet. Don't want it to play games but I do want it to have full HD HDMI out if possible. Most importantly I need it to be v fast! Will be used for web development, photoshop, virtual box, 100s of open tabs in chrome... etc.

Already have a monitor, mouse, keyboard and win7 so just need to budget for the rig.

I would get the Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB HDD - it is super quiet and fast - and about £35 on scan Today only with free sata cable thrown in

The OP should only get 8GB of RAM if they have Windows 7 64 bit.If they have the 32 bit version they should get 4GB instead.

If you are not overclocking run this RAM at 1333MHZ using the lowest latencies possible as this the optimal configuration for a Phenom II and Athlon II at stock speeds AFAIK.

I'd go for at least 8GB and definitely Windows 7 x64. The OP doesn't say just how heavily they're using the system, but if multiple virtual machines and heavy use of Photoshop (very large pictures) are necessary 4GB may be quickly eaten.

Everything you listed CAT plus a standard wifi card. 8gb RAM, 500gig...

Not tweaked the RAM settings like you suggested yet, will I find that in the BIOS?
