    Laptop memory upgrade

    I'm looking to upgrade my laptop memory from 2Gb (2 x 1gb) to 4Gb but am not sure what memory speed I need. Some websites say that I need 667mhz ddr2 for my Acer 5920G however some say that I can use 800mhz ddr2. Will there be any problems using the 800mhz (which is also cheaper) if the mobo doesn't properly support it?

    It should just run @ 667MHz if thats all it supports.

    i thought it would be fine as my desktop memory was running at 1066 rather than 1333 when i first got it but i got advised by a supplier that it wouldn't work if I used higher spec ram..... think he may have been a bit of a plonker!

    which would be better also, higher speed (i.e. 800 vs 667) or lower latency (5 vs 6)?

    TBH there is no real word difference - but if the laptop only supports 667MHz anyway it would obviously be better to get lower latency stuff.
