Buying advice needed for video editing pc

Building a windows pc to be used just for video editing maybe HD soon and making DVDs. I will be using adobe premiere elements. This is what I am currently looking at buying:

    Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz Socket 1366 D0 stepping 8MB Cache OEM Processor
    Crucial 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10600 Ballistix Memory CL7 1.65V
    2x Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB Cache - OEM
    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional - Licence and media - 1 PC - OEM - DVD - 64-bit - English
ASUS P6T SE iX58 Socket 1366 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
Shiny Black Mid Tower Case with Mesh Front Panel and Front 12cm LED Fan With Top Mounted 4x USB2.0 - No PSU
Samsung SH-S223 22X DVD±RW/RAM/DL Serial ATA Black Bare Drive - OEM
Sony AD7241S 24x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer & RAM Burner + LightScribe Black Bare Drive - OEM
    Arctic Power 700W PSU - With PCI-E, 4x SATA, 20+4, ATX12V, 8pin +12V Connectors
    Total: £726.84

Is that spec suitable or could I spend my money better? Also I can not decid what graphics card to get. Is it very important what graphics card I get? Any recommendations?

    Thanks

I'm not too sure about what you'll need for a graphics card as you're doing video editing. I know this is multi-core "heavy" but I'm not sure of the load on a graphics card so I'll leave it up to someone else to say.

However, one thing of concern is the PSU, I'm guessing you're ordering from Ebuyer as you chose the Arctic Power PSU.

You won't ever need more than 400W PSU with that system but depending on which graphics card you end up getting it's better to go with a 500W PSU.

A PSU like the Be Quiet 530W seems like a much better choice IMO. However, I can't find any in depth reviews of it but Be Quiet PSUs are "usually" very high quality. From what I've seen it doesn't have cable sleeving though so it might look a bit ugly. The OCZ StealthXStream is also a good choice at around the same price but has less connectors. If you don't mind spending a little extra, go get a Corsair PSU as they are simply top.

You can get free delivery from Scan too now that you have over 20 posts, here's some Corsair 450W PSUs that you will also be very nice if you don't mind spending £10 or so more.
    Corsair VX450W (Non Modular)
    Corsair HX450W (Modular)

That processor you've picked is OEM and doesn't come with a fan/heatsink.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

I'd pick a different DVD drive as well. I had that DVD drive until I got a bluray and it was horribly loud! Like.. Stupidly horrifically loud.

    Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

CPU is OEM too so you'll need to get yourself an aftermarket cooler on it.

    Thanks for the help!
    Is scan cheaper than ebuyer?
Thanks for the processor oem spot I missed that one!
Is the psu I selected not very good quality then?

Re: Buying advice needed for video editing pc

Well quality isn't that bad but when the rest of your components cost that much more I'd rather not risk it with a "weaker" PSU.

Scan and Ebuyer tend to have competitive prices so they're usually around the same price for the same products. I prefer Scan though due to the free 3 day delivery compared to Ebuyer's free 5 day delivery. I've personally never had to use Scan's RMA process so I can't comment on it, I did use their support once though and they are really knowledgeable. With Ebuyer their RMA process is really fast and their eNote system has been brilliant for me too.
