Ghosting on NT4 can it be done?

The server at school has no disk space left on the c drive I have cleaned it to the best I can but still just a few meg left… this is causing print ques when spooling large documents on the colour laser printer (I think) it comes up with not enough space on the drive… blah blah it’s a windows NT server with all the service packs.. Now can I get a copy of Norton ghost and swap the drives? What do you reckon? I’m confident doing this if it works with NT just wondering if you can see any pitfalls?

Norton ghost 2003 supports NT workstations aslong as you've got service pack 6 installed so i don't see why not

It will be fine, we use Ghost v.7.5 and do it all the time.

The easiest way to do it is to create a network ghost boot disk and use the Local->Disk to Disk option. When both HDD's are plugged in to the same PC that is.

i do it all the time at work no probs - similar thing to atomics post but i use a server to hold the ghost images

Thanks chaps, i have ghosted many a time when building up a client machine here at work as we are a small school we have a NT sever with win98 clients... ghosting on 98 is easy, just wanted to check if there were any issues with NT.. Thanks again chaps

So why not move the print spooler folder? You can change the drive on which NT spools print jobs. See KB article 123747

Shifting the paging file over to another disk will also clear a chunk of space and improve performance as a bonus.

The way i have allways done my NT4 Servers is

1 hard disk for the system page file and print spool

2 - 5 gig for the system
1 - 2 gig for swap
1 gig for the print spool

use rest for any apps i installed

1 hard disk for the users this way makes back ups a lot easyer for me

i only have one other drive and that's where all the kids data is set to save, but i have now set the printer to spool there, still gonna need a new drive soon though.

is this system not Raided then? probably best to order a few drives and sort that out...
