    Which XP-M should I choose?

    Hiya,

I've got the opportunity to purchase an XP2500+-M, either of the following:

    AQZFA 0340
    IQTHA 0402
    IQXFA, unknown week.

I'm going to be running it in an NF7-S v2.0, with an Alpha PAL8045 with low noise evercool fan. I dont want screaming fast performance, prefer stability and low noise. Currently got a 2100+ @ 2200Mhz 1.725v.

I'd like about 2400Mhz really. Which of the steppings is the best to go for do you reckon?

    Cheers

Definitely not the AQZFA, either of the other two, i'd be tempted to go for the IQXFA.

Why? Mine's an AQZFA and it runs fine. Have got it to 2.4GHz on air but was a bit warm for my liking so run it at 2.3GHz normally.

Should get much better on water when I can afford it!

Top two are now sold and the guy who had the IQXFA tested it for me and it doesnt do 2.4 without big voltage

Thinking of buying one new now. CPUCity reckon they'll have some IQYHA's in today, not sure what steppings other retailers have.

Anyone got any advice? Want the best chance of a decent CPU

ok, the batch number of the IQYXA must of been old, the IQYHA's are batch 0402 and higher so you're pretty much guarenteed a good cpu, i mean you'll be lucky to get a cpu that does 2.4 @ < v1.75 my advice would be buy 3, sell two on.

Is the Xp 2500-M the only mobile XP with good OCing potential? What about the 2800 etc... ?

    Cheers

2400+ (v1.35) is the best, you can't get them in the UK yet, but i'm emailed CPUCity asking them to try and get some in stock.

Cool Monarchcomputer.com here in the states sells them

I just started to use the 2500+ Mobile Barton cpu that I bought online recently(Monarchcomputer.com here in the states sells them and that's where I bought mine at). It overclocks to 2.54Ghz just fine so far, But I'm using OCZ PC4200EL Dual channel ram, a Thermalright sp-97 with a 92mm Tornado fan (I use Arctic Silver 2 and a Shim between the hsf and the cpu core, Cheap insurance really) all on a DFI NFII Lanparty Ultra B motherboard, It only cost Me $95.00 locally(Shipping/Postage was Free(FedEx)), I sold My old 3000+ cpu for the same amount too, So It really didn't cost Me anything in the end, Outside of some Paypal/ebay costs for the sale.
