    Basic budget pc spec ?

Its been a few months since i built a pc (last one being a gaming rig) so not entirely sure about the products on the market atm. Anybody spec something up for me ?

    Tasks :

    Web browsing
    Word processing

Coming from a P3 with 256mb of ram (i know, dont ask).

No need for keyboard/monitor/mouse, just need a base unit.

Cheap..and from scan as its close to me, nothing prebuilt.

Re: Basic budget pc spec ?

This is what I would look at getting:

    Asus M3A78-T ~ £49

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

This was around £100 when it was first released and is based on the 790GX chipset and has 128MB of dedicated DDR3 RAM for the HD3300 IGP.

    OR

    ASRock ASR-A780GM-LE/128M ~ £43

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ASRoc...SATA-RAID-mATX

This uses the 780G chipset and has 128MB of dedicated DDR RAM for the HD3200 IGP.

    320GB Samsung F1 ~ £31

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    AMD Athlon II X3 425 ~ £55

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

This processor can be potentially unlocked to an Athlon II X4 or even a Phenom II X3 or X4. Some Phenom II X3 processors were based on the Deneb core found in the Phenom II X4 and the others are based on the Propus core found in the Athlon II X4.

    OR

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 45M ~ £35

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

This is based on the AM2+ Phenom II X4 920 and 940 and hence can be potentially unlocked to a Phenom II X3 or X4.

    2GB 800MHZ DDR2 ~ £43

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    Coolermaster Elite 330 ~ £22

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    OR

    Coolermaster Elite 331 ~ £23

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    OR

    Coolermaster Elite 335 ~ £23

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    OR

    Silverstone PS02B ~ £26

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    400W Silverpower SP-400P2C ~ £26

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

Silverpower is part of the same company as Tagan.

    OR

    400W Silverstone SST-ST40F-ES ~ £34

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    This PSU is 80+ certified.

    Samsung SH-S223C/BEBE SATA DVD rewriter ~ £15
