    Got a Creative X-Fi xtreme-music card and running windows 7 64-bit?

I am wondering if anyone here with the x-fi xtreme-music sound card running windows 7 64-bit can do me a favour.

It appears I cannot get the CMSS-3D functioning at all even when I select the option in the mixer and set it up for Stereo Surround 50% so I can enjoy my dub-step, breaks and fidget house as I used to in the various other windows versions playing through all 5 speakers.

If you can check and see if your card does exactly the same I would be greatful before I remove it from the system at home and turn it into a yet another expensive paperweight.

If yours works on this model of card, can you please tell me which version of the drivers you are using I would be ever so greatful as well.

    Thanks in advance

I have an old (PCI) X-Fi gamer & in win 7x64 it keeps 'forgetting' it's supposed to be using 5.1 & just reverts to stereo every now & again, even tho in configuration it shows 5.1
As soon as I hit 'test' it recognises the extra speakers & it'll be alright for a while.

    Re: Got a Creative X-Fi xtreme-music card and running windows 7 64-bit?

i fixed all my problems with my XFi using Daniel K's audio pack.

my speakers used to shift, the center channel would suddenly move to the right along with all other channels taking a side step mid game.

its a hacked and best part of various released drivers, adds back all the stuff you had in XP thats been removed for vista/7

Yeah I have Lee, I'll check it tonight.

What does yours do specifically when you use CMSS 3D?

Daniel K's support pack fixed CMSS-3D problems I was having on my Auzentech X-Fi Prelude in Windows 7. That pack is highly recommended.

It plays my 'stereo' mp3 files through both the front and rear speakers of my 5.1 setup when set to stereo surround 50%.

I know it's nothing major but I do like to be enveloped in sound when listening to my newly aquired mixes and after using this facility for over 3-4 years in XP and vista, the music just doesn't sound the same now on windows 7.

Gonzo - I was about to reply stating that I checked that and its not supported, but it now appears to be and I must have had a bit of a brain-fart last night when looking at this issue at around midnight as I'm sure I read that exact page so that it said that the xtreme-music isn't supported

I'll try the updated and hacked Daniel K drivers later tonight and give you all some feedback once the missus is home to releve me from keeping an eye on the hyperactive nipper

Thank you for helping a sleepy, knackered and drained Lee

    Re: Got a Creative X-Fi xtreme-music card and running windows 7 64-bit?

I've tried the Daniel K drivers and they work fine and CMSS-3D appears to function once again as I can hear my music from all 5 speakers I have setup

I had a bit of a scare though because explorer.exe failed to respond on bootup twice just after loading these drivers and as yet I've not checked if this occurs since as I've not powered the PC once since the shutdown last night.

Cheers for the links/advice - I'm a happy audio freak once again and will probably get told to turn it all down now from the other half
