    Talking hdd question

    hi
    i am in the process of building a new computer,the thing is i will be using my old 120gb hdd ,the question is if take my hdd out of my old computer and install it in my new one will everything on there still be on it (operating system and that) or will i have to format it and load everything on again ,as i only have recovery disks for windows xp.

    ull only be able to use it as a 2nd hard drive until its formatted as it will have old drivers on it. but when u open it in windows everything including the old windows install will still be there.

    will have to format it if you want to use as a primary drive in ur new comp tho.

    windows might work, albeit in a slow & crippled state

    it might also just give you a STOP error on boot. depends on what the old & new motherboard chipsets are, what driver version you have, and dumb luck

    Not necessarily. This problem occurs if you are using NTFS, but its OK with FAT32. We've got Windows XP Pro installed on a removeable rack on FAT32, which we use for testing mobos, its a simple matter of plug and play.
