Exclamation Shuttle SN25P and Athlon 64 X2 Hangs

    Statement of Shuttle support: http://global.shuttle.com/ADVNews/Ne...2-560BA5F2A03D

BIOS revision history noting dual-core was added in rev.K: http://www.shuttle.com/share/fae/hq/...readmefn25.htm

If you have a Shuttle SN25P equipped with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor running Windows XP and are experiencing hangs, especially during periods of high-speed USB2 activity, AND running in USB 1.1-only or single-core (/onecpu in boot.ini) modes clears up the problem, please contact Shuttle if you haven't done so already and get a case number assigned to your problem. The front line techs are sympathetic, but to back them up, we end-users need to raise the visibility of this particular problem to Shuttle management.

Re: Shuttle SN25P and Athlon 64 X2 Hangs

I just got one of these from a friend, long story, and was having the USB 2.0 issues which I thought was down to using an old HDD with XP Pro SP3 so I installed 7 Pro yesterday and the problem remained. I discovered this problem was sidespread with Google and flashed the PC with the last bios offered by ****tle...but STILL have the problem. Was there ever a DEFINATE fix for using an X2 CPU and USB seeing as the PC sits 8' away and I'm not prepared to trail wires across the living room?!

Re: Shuttle SN25P and Athlon 64 X2 Hangs

Was reading a guide at Sudhian for the SN25P and it states BIOS Y should fix issue.

    Link to Shuttle BIOS page.

As you've upgraded BIOS already, did you try setting it back to default/failsafe values, then after rebooting going back in and altering as need be. Otherwise it lists changing BIOS to USB 1.1 only, but that should be good enough for a mouse and keyboard.

Edit: Seems Shuttle link won't work, have to go manually though download page and select model http://global.shuttle.com/
