As per title,I need a base unit for the kids.I have the keyboard/mouse/speakers/HDD/OS already so all I need is the base unit. The kids will use it to surf the web and watch cartoons in 720p only. Also I want if possible to run windows 7 32 bit on it but its no biggie if I cant ,I have WinXP.Thanks in advance for helping.
PS the kids dont play games so dont need graphics card.
Re: Need a build for Kids ie cheap one
How big is the budget??
Does the PC need to be small??

Darn!! The Moose has been tackled by a sneaky side attack from a Pandi!!
Any of the parts mentioned would do the job. The motherboards listed are all DDR2 ones though.
I would also check the Scan Today Only webpage and Shop Offers webpage for offers:
http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx
http://www.scan.co.uk/ShopOffers/Index.aspx
I would also make sure that the OP uses their free Scan postage too:

Re: Need a build for Kids ie cheap one
For what you want the Acer Revo as suggested by Rob B would be more than sufficient. The cheapest version is £130 for a single core Atom, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD and Linux (if you have OS already then it might be worth the savings to go for that one), but if I was you I'd strongly consider the £230 version with dual core Atom, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD and Windows 7 which will do absolutely everything you need of it.

Must be to do with being an infinitely superior race to Moose's ;), You know Pandi's are better than Moose's, yours sounds like a religious character [if you pronounce it weirdly :/] :P :D
(WTF is the plural of Moose? :/ [CBA to google])
Points well made, always check Today only before you order anything as there may be alternatives crop up cheaper, 'tis always best to check first rather than check just after you've ordered (i always do :D, and then send a grovelling email to get prices reduced :D)
And obviously free shipping, any money saved is money that can be spent elsewhere :)
Re: Need a build for Kids ie cheap one
I agree with the revo :) and go for the dual core one ;)
Another alternative is Foxconn NetBox-nT330i base unit http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...ode=PCF-NT330I you need a laptop sized (2.5") sata hard drive and a single stick of ddr2 SO-DIMM to go in it.
The only real issues with these options is lack of dvd/cd drive.
If you wan a dvd than look at the ASRock Ion330Pro
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ASRoc...AID-No-HDD-RAM = barebones, so add normal ddr2 and laptop sata hard drive
or http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ASRoc...Gb-s-SATA-RAID fully equiped but currently out of stock.
The only down side here is it's a bit more money

Pandis better than Moose?? Never!! Moose know how to fight wars of attrition well even if there is no war on!!
Moose are powerful because you don't know whether you are going up against one Moose or a thousand Moose!! In fact the Moose themselves don't know!!
